Chairman’s Chit Chat May 2025
What SHALL I write about for the Chairman’s May Chit Chat? At the moment I cannot think of anything.
Quite often a germ of an idea will root itself in my one little grey cell when I am showering or relaxing in a Radox bath. At other times, a random comment heard on the radio, TV programme or in general conversation will set a train of thought in motion – a peg to hang an article on I suppose you could call it.
But neither of those things has happened and I am devoid of inspiration with the deadline to get one written looming fast.
How do newspaper columnists manage to write an article of several hundred words every day, or even every week? I guess, for them, local, national and international politics, the outrageous antics of celebrities and the almost hourly advances in technology and science are rich seams of subject matter.
When I was a young sales rep, there was an unwritten company rule that you never engaged in discussions about politics or religion with customers. Sound advice. This being so, I also think the subjects available to the newspaper columnists are not appropriate to be aired on a gardening club website.
My universe, although cosy and happy, is rather small.
It consists of family, friends and gardening.
Maybe I need to broaden my horizons. Perhaps I should consider joining an amateur dramatics society. This would allow me to regale you with amusing anecdotes about the cast of characters, the hilarious rehearsals mishaps and the near disasters during performances. Ermm…… that is worth exploring.
In the meantime, what SHALL I write about for the Chairman’s May Chit Chat?
