Tuesday 2 May 10 am for 10.15 am

Brunswick Organic Nursery
Bishopthorpe, York

Return visit to one of our Christmas charities and follow up to May 2022 talk. A registered charity, which provides a safe and stimulating environment for people with learning difficulties in which to work. On two sites – we shall visit both. Range of plants for sale as well as seasonal fruit and vegetables, high quality gift cards, gift wrap, woven goods, bird boxes and other woodworked items for sale in the shop.

The Yorkshire Arboretum
Castle Howard, York YO60 7B

Return visit – follow up to December 2022 talk. A glorious, 120-acre garden with an internationally renowned collection of trees from around the world, set in a stunning landscape of parkland, lakes and ponds in a sheltered valley. An extensive collection of shrubs, accompanied by a diversity of wildflowers, birds, insects and other wildlife.

 

ABCGC 25th Anniversary Celebration

Tuesday 30 May 2pm for 2.15 pm

Middlethorpe Hall
Bishopthorpe Road, York

Restricted to 34 members only, on a first come, first served basis, after which names will be put on a waiting list. The 28-acre gardens have much to explore. There are many specimen trees within the grounds, an enchanting walled kitchen garden, including a mellow brick Dovecote, dating back to 1681 and rescued from dereliction in 1980 and now used as a wine cellar. Other features
include the Rose Garden, walled White Garden, Spring Garden and a lake surrounded by a glade of trees.

East Wing, Newton Kyme Hall,

Contemporary designed garden in dramatic historic setting with views of Kyme Castle, St.Andrew’s Church and C18 Newton Kyme Hall. Sculptural planting, herb and cutting garden, small meadow. The garden emphasises the broad scene and setting for the East Wing and planted areas create a rich variety of visual interest through the seasons as well as attracting wildlife. Exhibition of the garden’s design and
development over the past 13 years.

Return visit, using our RHS affiliation, to hear about and see recent developments.

 

Thursday 27 July 2 pm for 2.15 pm

Greencroft, Pottery Lane,
Littlethorpe, Ripon

½ acre informal country garden created by the owners. Features long herbaceous borders packed with late summer perennials, annuals and exotics, culminating in a circular garden with views through to a large wildlife pond and surrounding countryside. The special ornamental features include gazebo, temple pavilions, formal pool, stone wall with mullions and gate to pergola and cascade water feature.
